Serial Device Walk-Through if anyone has the time.
Ok. I am trying to set up one of my thermostats. Its of the HAI variety, and runs in serial. Docs for the unit are avail upon request. I have set up a hardware interface using the generic serial module.(Named it HAI Thermostat) I have set the communications parameters as per the Stat's requirements....

Well, I got some DSC thermostats to go with my DSC security system. After doing much digging, I have come to the following conclusion: I think these stats all run on RS485. I guess it depends on how much you want to spend. Lots of companies make nice little LCD touchscreens. Some have contact or logic outs, others are strictly IR out. The IR isnt a problem though. Yes. The thermostats support direct rs232 communication. This way they can be used with most any HVAC controller or home automation device.
