I've been using a mini-itx board. Those things are cheap, quiet, and come with everything but a HDD and power supply. You'd probably need a riser card.

The Connector should make the Essentials libraries available. I also setup HouseBot to control all jump targets for Essentials and visa versa, but not having control over my libraries is truely missed. With it, you could actually select a movie from your HB theme and start it along with all other d...

Be able to switch lights from within the meedio interface and see status etc... You can send messages in meedio to execute housebot functions. I have been doing it for some time now to get the ultimate meedio interface. I create command modules to send the messages I create. Each command module has...

This is great news. I've been looking just for realtime status from housebot. Basicly a way to make esentials a software remote for housebot. I could care less about PDA control for now. This is perfect timing guys. I'll can't wait to see what it does.

Although I'd like to see this too, Insteon computer modules will not be sold untill late august. They only sell the computer module with the developer kits currently.

Ok, I finally figured it out. Looks like insteon is able to receieve both x10 and insteon commands without need to switch over. insteon commands take ~.04 seconds to recieve and ~.04 seconds to send back confirmation. Time increases if you have to jump networks, by wireless repeaters. To recieve an ...

I've been looking at them and was wondering how they compare to zen-sys. Things I want to know are not in the press release. They are backwards compatible with x10 so I'm guessing any x10 pc controller can communicate with them. Problem is I'm guessing you lose the encryption (and possibly speed?), ...

INSTEON modules

I was browsing smarthome as I'm looking to finally jump into home automation and I saw INSTEON. I was wondering what they are and if they are better than x10 communication. Would they work in housebot?

I don't think anyone went anywhere. These were never really active forums, and there really isn't anything new out and won't be for what seems like some time (january or february).

Was the simpad fast enough to do everything you needed. I mean could it handle refreshing the graphics and cover art without a noticable delay. I've thouht about getting one of those off ebay, but never found anyone who could tell me the speed on something I would use it for.
