Insteon isn´t RF? And here I´ve been feeling bad about investing in Zwave, Insteon was supposed to be so much better... Insteon IS RF. AND PLC. Sort of. Kind of. Not really. I agree some of their advertising is a bit misleading. They make it sound like each device is xmitting RF and PLC when in fac...

My theory is that it's not transmitting via RF at all. Only powerline. The delays look just like X10. Although I've not read this anywhere (yet), I'm guessing that the Powerlinc V2 is strictly powerline and to get anything to respond to RF, you need to also install the powerline-RF modules. However...

My only concern now is that there is some serious latency when sending the commands. For example, if I want to turn on three lights, it takes about a second to turn on each light! Looks like X10. It's very possible that there is just something I'm doing wrong in the plugin. I haven't had as much ti...

Just got my PowerLinc in today and started to play around with it. In the brief period I've used it, so far it seems to be controlling my Insteon devices just fine. Also using the connector in ME. Will download the latest update and try out my KeypadLincs. Keep up the good work Scott! Thanks, Rob

I posed my question over at accessx10.com and here's a reply I got concerning addressing of the buttons on the keypad: As I understand the white paper docs, keypads and controllers use a single device address for all their buttons, but use a different "group" number for each button. Does t...

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to re-read the Insteon white paper, but I don't think the keypads and controllers have unique ID's for each button. If they do, they aren't printed on a sticker. Perhaps it has to be queried via the Powerlinc and the still un-released Smarthome Manager software. I'll ...

OK, I've ordered the Powerlinc and should have it in a week or so. I've installed the plugin and see only the dimmer listed. Do you plan on adding controller and keypad support? They're both pretty integral to the whole Insteon idea and I'm sure most of us would like to see that before any X-10 supp...

This fall Insteon is coming out with their wall controllers and a touchpad LCD. That will really make this system shine (well, that and Housebot support, hint hint). Touchpad LCD? Do you have any more information on this? Now I am really excited. A list of current, future, and rumoured Insteo...

Would you like to see Housebot support Insteon?

Insteon is a new wireless/PLC home automation standard that is backwards compatible with X10 that promises high reliability at a reasonable cost. See http://www.insteon.com for more details.

I just got the Insteon starter kit and a dimmer switch installed. I must say I'm very impressed. Took about 15 minutes to install the 2 repeaters, dimmers, and to link them. The tabletop controller is very classy, looks much more expensive than the $30 it cost. The dimmer switch is a true 2 way and ...

I too am interested in Insteon support. I'm going to be picking up the starter kit and several dimmer switces for my media room as a test. If it works out as good as it sounds, I'm going to settle on that for the rest of my house. The dimmers appear to be the true rocker-types and if the response ti...
