I'm just using the standard X10 Palm Pad remote... http://www.x10.com/automation/x10_hr12a.htm Actually, I have 4 of them in various places in my house. They double as home automation remotes (like what they're intended for) as well as security keypads. When the alarm is in Away mode, all the lighti...

It definitely has consumed a bit of my time lately. Especially when you consider I just started using HouseBot only 1.5 months ago! :) Over the weekend I mounted a few outside wireless X10 motion detectors and replaced the hardwired timers on two outside flood lights with X10 wall switch modules. I ...

external lcd status display (matrix orbital)
Anybody thought about trying to wire one of these up for home automation status information (temp, caller id, alarm status, etc.)?... http://www.matrixorbital.com/index.php?cName=lcd-character-lcds&osCsid=9d93494b2ae54cb4eadce2385337068e http://www.matrixorbital.com/pimg/500/LCD2041-WB-150.jpg I...

Just an update for anybody that cares. I've officially unplugged my X10 DS7000 security console and my housebot server is now the heart of my security system. I've got the same functionality I had before plus many additional benefits. I had considered running the X10 security console side-by-side wi...

I'm just about ready to replace my X10 DS7000 security console entirely with HouseBot. I've got HouseBot configured to replicate the Home and Away modes of the security console. But instead of using the keychain remotes, I'm using a PalmPad remote to arm in either mode. If it's in Home mode, a simpl...

So, nobody has come across this problem? :? Or is it such an easy/obvious workaround or fix that nobody wants to reply. I realize there's not a ton of activity on this forum but I figured one of the regulars here is sure to have come across this issue. I know people are using Palm Pads in thi...

X10 palm pad and repeated composite codes
When you press a button on the X10 palm pad it sends out multiple codes unless you are really quick with the button push. I want to make tasks that execute based on a particular palm pad button being pushed. Unforunately, these tasks execute multiple times in a row if you aren't quick enough with th...

I had the same problem using the Irnhelper utility. I then emailed Jon and he told me where to specifically point the remote and that when the usb-uirt is in learn mode it only works in a really small range. It turns out I could only get it to work when I held the remote just slightly over an inch a...

usb-uirt problem learning codes
When I point a remote at the usb-uirt (when not in learning mode) the red LED flashes. When I'm in learning mode and do the same thing the LED doesn't flash and there is no indication in housebot that it's receiving anything. I've tried this with multiple remotes with no luck. Any ideas? I'm using v...

I opened a ticket regarding this today and referenced this message thread. I'm trying to be optimistic and I'm thinking maybe 2006 will be the year that HouseBot gets the attention it deserves. :) You know you are desperate when you are visiting the competition's (HomeSeer) message forum on a regula...
