How to control a monitor's power state.
Although I don't use HouseBot, the HA program I do use shares a common scripting language, namely VBScript . I've written, or collected, many handy functions that may also be useful to HouseBot users. The attached ZIP file contains two VBScript subroutines that permit you to: Control a monitor's pow...

Form controls are improperly rendered at 120DPI.
RE: HB V3.00.01
The Housebot application does not render form controls properly when viewed at 120 DPI. Controls (predominately buttons) overlap one another or are cropped by the form's border. See the attached PNG files for examples of the problem.

Implement "SWRemote" as a Web Server Application
Housebot's ability to create native "remote control" applications sets it apart from other home automation solutions. However, "native" implies a Windows-based operating system. There are many low-cost, Internet Appliances with touch-sensitive screens (3Com Audrey, Nokia 770, etc...

Summary of this script's usage.
Richard: Could you please provide a brief summary of this script's purpose? I'm considering an ELK M1 for my home and I'm curious to see how you've merged the functionality of the M1 with HouseBot. I tried to understand the script's purpose by reading it but it'd be easier if you could explain how y...

Ditto. Lukewarm community involvement was the reason that caused me to look elsewhere. HouseBot is an amazing product but, given the nature of Home Automation, you need an active community contributing not only its expertise but new functionality. I've moved on to MisterHouse because it is free, ope...

VB SDK 2.00 and HouseBot V2.32
Does the VB SDK (V2.00 ) function correctly with HouseBot V2.32? I used it to create the "VB Sample Device" (included with the VB SDK) and, on first glance, it works properly. It is a fairly simple device and perhaps more complex devices will fail in HB V2.32. Or will they? Does anyone hav...

Your best bet is to download the trial version of HouseBot and have a look around. HouseBot supports several of your requirements including Ocelot, W800, and Leviton X10 devices. HouseBot can be controlled via a web-browser and it includes an example of how to do this (a few ASP pages to add to IIS)...

iTunes: Play Tracks and PlayLists managed by iTunes program.
The iTunes Script Device permits HouseBot to play Tracks and PlayLists managed by Apple's iTunes application. The device works by specifying an Action followed by running the associated VB Script application (i.e. by clicking the State field to change it from Stopped to Running). The following Actio...

Can you provide an example of the string that is calling the application? As for the WinAmp device, IMHO I think it was designed to provide basic functionality when it was created ages ago. Further enhancement was probably suspended when HouseBot was incorporated with Meedio (Media Center software)....

I'm interested in seeing how HouseBot has been applied; I certainly won't be critical of aesthetic choices or programming style! Please feel free to share whatever scripts/screens/devices you have to offer. Richard's screenshots have demonstrated an integration between HouseBot and Meedio that I nev...
