Re: Playing MP3’s using a HB front-end?
I do too on occasion. I have an Echo Dot as one input to my whole house system. So i just ask HB to open the echo input then holler at Alexa to play whatever on the HB Echo. But I miss not being able to pick and choose tracks from the MP3 NAS collection. Ill get back to the cause of the problem even...

Re: Apparently Insteon is no more
I was just following what instructions I could find for this particular remote controller, a GE JASCO 45600. https://usermanual.wiki/Universal-Elec ... 757609.pdf Maybe I misunderstood how the cloning process should work. And I'm not ruling out being unencumbered by the thought process.

Playing MP3’s using a HB front-end?
Is anyone doing this? I was using something that one of the HBers made available called THC JukeBox, which is largely a VBScript that uses a SQLite back end for the metadata (album title, genre, track title, etc.) and integrates that with device/property data that HB themes can use to select, displa...

Re: Apparently Insteon is no more
Z-Wave update: I was able to get it working, once i purchased (a cheap) Z-Wave remote controller. The process to integrate the switch device into HB from its stored node info in the hand held controller is a bit fiddly. One has to have the remote controller’s user/instructions (which it didnt come w...

Re: VBScript and HB
THC Jukebox was written by a HB user many years ago. Ive forgotten his name, (although I may have it in files somewhere. You/i could probably find references to it in the forum. (edit: Incoronado maybe?) i tried to tie its creation to Richard Naninck at one point but he said it wasnt his work. AFAIK...

VBScript and HB
In a quick look to try to determine why my THC Jukebox no longer works on a new Win11 box (still havent figured it out) I read they MS is deprecating VBScript from Win11 and beyond and will be totally gone by 2027. Not sure how this affects HB functionality, so I’m posing that question. The only thi...

Re: Apparently Insteon is no more
I ordered a cheap handheld off eBay. Crap shoot. Will know next week. (The z-wave dongle i got looks to be too small for a battery, or much of anything.)

Re: Apparently Insteon is no more
Back to my Z-Wave experiment. One Z-Wave switch (enbrighten smart switch), and an Aeotec Z stick 7 (zwa010). Found and installed drivers from Sillabs.com and created a HB hardware interface (USB) and the stick is enabled using the virtual com port silicon labs CP210x port. The HB help is not clear w...

Re: housebot crash and reinstall failure
1) The "Cannot Delete a thing" problem (device, task) problem has reappeared. Same error message as shown earlier. In addition 2) I cannot add a group within a group. For example, adding a subgroup "kitchen" under "lighting" group within Devices or Tasks. Nothing happen...

Re: housebot crash and reinstall failure
When it has happened i dont think windows is “creating” new ports. When i go into HB to add them again the drop down lists the same ports I “discovered” when I first added the serial port (USB->RS232) dongle. A HB restart MAY have been involved; that trail is cold. And I havent been able to duplicat...

Re: housebot crash and reinstall failure
This is unrelated to the Delete issue, I think. But I've noticed on several instances where the serial port assignments (Hardware Interfaces) and their enabled status is lost for all assigned ports/devices. I cannot pinpoint the conditions when it has happened, but it has occurred several times sinc...

Re: housebot crash and reinstall failure
The Deleting Things problem... went away. I had just shut down HB and rebooted, for another non HB reason. After rebooting and restarting HB, I created a test device to see if I could delete it. And I could. So I tried again to delete a task that I previously gotten that error message on. Deleted su...

Re: housebot crash and reinstall failure
Thanks; suspected that much. That brings up a question i had last weekend. I have an old diagram the MS Access version of HBData. But could not find a way to create a similar diagram for the SQL version. I can draw one manually using the DB browser ive been using to look at the tables. But there mus...

Re: housebot crash and reinstall failure
I have run in to a minor issue. When i try to delete an unused hardware interface or task i get an error message. See attached lousy screen grab. (Same file reference each time but different line #, IIRC. I haven't attempted any other clean-up but would like to weed out some of the old stuff at some...
