Re: Housebot Alive! New Video of EDGAR

My HB just keeps on trucking. I've trying other home automation apps, but they all have big issues in fundamental areas, so I just keep running HB.

I know Scott writes great software, and man, this stuff is solid. I'm on year 11 or so of using HB now (since the 0.x days)

Re: Win7 - Anyone else using?

Thanks Scott, yes, it looks like they replicated the 'bugs' as well in 'compatibility' mode  After a day, it has only gone up 400K, and is not really changing. I've been using it heavily, lot's of scripts, theme edits, testing, etc. so the footprint is indeed staying small even in the face of ...

Re: Win7 - Anyone else using?

  Doh! I forgot that early on, I had selected 'Run this program in compatibility mode' and set it for WinXP SP3 compatibility. (or the installer set it that way). Once I unchecked that, and just let it run 'as-is', no more memory leak :o It's been running along for ten minutes now at rou...

Win7 - Anyone else using?

I upgraded my HTPC/automation server to Windows7 a month or two ago, and had to do a few things to get 3.30.02 running. First, was to set the app as "run as administrator", as it wants to write to the Program files directories. Second, based on some threads here about hanging tasks on mult...

Re: Wrapper for C# plugin development!

Hi Dave, thanks we look forward to your input. In the meantime, I found some information that should help. First, the tracing error I listed above “ Unable to find device initialization function (HBDeviceModuleInit) for Device DLL Module (path of the module in the plugins\devices dir) ” is an expect...

Re: Uptimes

My experience with SW remotes as been good (not quite as great as the server though), with weeks/months of uptimes for single controller. My main controller is a Dell Axim (used be an X5, now an X51v) that stays on 24/7, sitting in its charging cradle. It's the main way I initiate complex system tur...

Re: Wrapper for C# plugin development!

Terry, good to hear it worked for you, did you follow the instructions to the letter, or is there anything unique about your deployment for the dll's? Since I'm using C# express, and it had to convert the solutions from C# 2005, I'm wondering if there's a binding or setting Richard and I are not doi...

Re: Wrapper for C# plugin development!

I’ve been trying to play with this all day, and I believe there might be an issue with the way we were instructued to set it up. If you turn on ‘Settings-Tracing … ->Device’ and check the Output to system window, you will see that compiling either of the samples will result in the “Unable to find de...

Re: Uptimes

I have extremely long uptimes, measured in weeks or months. Windows patches are the generally limiting factor in extended runtimes. In an earlier version (v2.x), I had a 7 month stretch before I had to do a restart (I added another app). My config is not simple, so I'm extremely impressed, HB is ver...

Minimum hardware needed to run HB server

I’m looking to create as minimal a footprint and cost for an HB server. This would be a totally dedicated machine, sitting in an equipment room or in an A/V rack. Administration would be done via remote desktop, so no local display required. I figure something along the lines of a desktop eePC would...

Re: Asus EEE Top

very cool. Scree is a tad big at 15", I'd rather have a 10 variant, for which I was consideing a net book, but I like the form-factor of this one much more.

I gather a mini-keyboard could be plugged in (or a wireless USB interface), anyone done that?

Support for Z-Wave motion sensor - HSM100

Scott, have you added support for the multi-sensor from HomeSeer (or whomever is the orginal OEM) that does motion, temp and battery level? http://store.homeseer.com/store/HSM100---Z-Wave-Multi-Sensor-HomeSeer-P438C57.aspx I'm thinking of adding it to my equipment room to manage the light and to mon...

Re: HB mobile clients - what are you using?

Resurrecting this to see if anything new in mid-2008 meets our criteria for a sub-$500 touch screen, instant-on, 800x600 (or better) controller. My ideal device would be something like the 10" Viewsonic ViewPanels running current WinCE versions. My old VP110 airpanel is giving up the ghost afte...
