The Marmitek remotes work fine for direct X10 control e.g. A4 ON, this is OK for firing tasks in Housebot. I also use a couple of Prontos with wireless mod and X10 CCF files for a prettier interface. Again the end result is a direct X10 control. My favourite toy at the moment though is using my Oran...

Will probably stick with HB but Meedio is not for me

For quite some time I have thought that HB was rellay too good a product to just remain freeware. One of the realities of life is that the poor sucker at the end writing the code needs to be able to fund his life somehow. As HB has become more and more sophisticated is has just obviously moved from ...

And of course the answer is.......................

............ use the new Direct X10 Command property in 1.62 !!! My dim & bright buttons now no longer need to call tasks, they simply set the Direct X10 Command property of the device to be controlled to something like 'Bright;2' or 'Dim;2' Of course it means that the buttons now are purely rel...

Ok, I'm getting there.... My only remaining question is how I actually trigger this from a button in the theme. Bearing in mind that I can only change one property from a button (that is true isn't it?) I can't set the house code, unit code and dim level from one button. Of course I can write a task...

HouseBot attempting Internet access

Scott, even though I have HouseBot configured not to check for updates automatically, it seems to have 3 - 4 attempts to access the 'net after starting up. It's a bit of a pain as it's on a machine that only has a dialup connection and I get the dialup dialogue boxes coming up. Is there anyway this ...

How do I dim lots of lights without loads of tasks?

I have a number of standard wall mounted light dimmers. On my theme I have four buttons for each one - Off Dim Bright On The On and Off ones are easy, they just change the property of the device directly. The Dim and Bright ones are doing my head in! :x I can't set the dim level absolutely, it needs...

Yes it would simplify things a bit. I have actually got round this by setting the composite property to %%mainlight.X10 House Code%%;%%mainlight.X10 Unit Code%%;Bright;5 for example. It makes it easier to change the settings, but a pig to spot typos in the code!!! On a separate note, I have a number...

Composite property using device names ?

I know that there have been a number of postings on the subject and that you had taken the DIM command functionality out of the CM11A for a reason, but...... ....... as it stands I have this working using a Control and setting the composite property to send the X10 codes directly. The problem is tha...
