Serial device "Received Data" property

I'm trying to create a new serial device but I've noticed that for some reason the "Received Data" property isn't automatically being created. If I create it by hand it shows information but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure why it wouldn't be created automatically for you. If you add it manually it works OK though right?

I figured out what the issue is. If you create a new generic serial port device from the Settings menu and you don't add any properties, when you later select that device the "Received Data" property doesn't get created either. All I had to do was add one property to the serial device and the creation worked.
