Non-rectangular images and Win CE (SIMPad)

Post by yaccri »

I have SIMPad SL4 with Win CE .NET 4.1

I am unable to display properly non-rectangular shapes (like round buttons).

I tried BMP, PNG and JPG formats, with and without using transparency.

The best image achieved was displayed with extra 'dots' of the transparent color that was chosen.

On Winows (not Win CE), I use png file formats with tranparent backgroud (the image itself is transparent around the shapes) and it works fine.

Is there any way to display non-rectangular shapes properly on Win CE devices?

I do not beleive you can use transparant backgrounds on ce devices.

( Could be wrong there is a note on this somewhere in the help)

However you can display round images using this method---

Open up image(png or bmp etc) in paint use fill option to colour the area aroung the image to the same colour as the backgroung on the panel

ie if background image is say dark blue then make the colour of the surrounding image dark blue

The image is then displayed as a circle on the screen

Hope this is of some use

The WinCE 4.1 OS definitely will show trans images like PNG... it just requires the application to support it.

I had a SimPad with 4.1 running NetRemote... everything was trans PNGs and it worked fine.

Would be pretty sad if Meedio did not support it.

PT,

The backgound that I use is changing, so this method will not help me

Affini (and others),

So how would you display for example a fully tranparent button or a round button on a Win CE device using transparency?

Try to use another color in your images instead the PNG transparency , and then set the same color for transparent color in the image properties of the button, I dont use Housebot right now (expired), but I investigated a lot about themes, and thats the way I did that...

I was using Red 255, Green 0, Blue 255, but your could use your own color...

Note: that applies to controls in the panels, not for the panels itselves.

When setting a tranparent color like the default 255,0,255, it shows some areas or dots of the transparent color. I tried with different colors and always got the same results.

I don't want any 'trails' of the transparent color to show on the screen. All I want is a clear and accurate image.
