X10 Device Mapping

Post by kzpbb2 »

Is there a way to "nicely" associate x10 addresses with device names for use on a software remote? For example, I have an x10 Powerline monitor device that shows me "Received Composite Property" as information is received. I can pop a panel on a software remote to display A;5;On. If A5 is my bedroom light how can I display "Bedroom Light On" instead of A;5;On? I could create a task with a long string of If/Thens to map every X10 device but I wondered if there is an easier way to point to a table or list to do the mapping from x10 house code and unit to device name? Thanks.

You can create an X10 Device, give it a meaningful name, and map it to an X10 address to help association an actual X10 address to a particular name. However, if you're wanting to display the name of the device in some other way, it really won't help. Might be a nice feature request to have the Device description as a property that can be accessed from a Task/script.
