Insufficient Data in Read buffer messages

Post by Steve Horn »

I've started getting a lot of these. To the point that it seems that HB server is retrying transmission to the Leopard and the Leoprd eventually locks up - the white screen of death. Rebooting the Leopard (unplgging/replugging the wall wart) clears the problem until the next time. Sometimes I have to restart the HB server to clear it out too. I'm not running any CMAX program; just its native low level process. Is there a way of determining if the issue is due to X10 activity as opposed to IR? I could use this problem as an excuse to replace my remaining X10 devices. Or should I shoot the Leopard and get an Ocelot? When this happens pretty much all useful HB functions cease or are dramatically delayed. No other soft or hardware changes have been made prior to this problem rearing its head again.

Send me a Hardware Interface trace. That may shed some light on why this is happening. It's possible that it's related to a data collision issue or something of that nature.

I think they're the same under the skin. I've been using an Ocelot since the beginning of HouseBot (I think it was the first Hardware Interface), and I've always been impressed with it's reliability. I'll admit that now only use it for IR and input sensing (SECU-16), but it's still kicking.

Will do.
After that, I might disable the HB X10 tasks for awhile to see if that affects the problem one way or the other.
thx.
