Include new Z-Wave device without remote?

Post by lostdreamer »

Hi, after trying Housebot for a while I just bought my first few z-wave devices and was wondering;
is there any way to include a new device in the mesh network with having to buy a remote for that (with the Z-Wave Parameter Configuration perhaps)?

I'm using the Homepro ZCU201 with usb2serial driver and i'm trying to add a zrw230 (relay wallswitch).

I haven't played with Z-wave in a while, but I am pretty sure what you are using is a secondary controller. This means it has to learn the network topology from a primary controller (i.e., handheld). Even if it was a primary, I don't believe HB is set up to use the functionality.

I think I'll put back the LW11 dimmer for now and next month I'll buy the remote then.
(As well as the correct dimmers, instead of this relay switch)

If i'm correct I'll need this remote then ?

Thanks for you advice,

There are several brands and different types of z-wave remotes/controllers that will work. I have been using the one you have pictured for many years, and it works fine.
