IE vs. Netscape browser w/forum

I converted... almost to use of IE since my Netscape version is old and IE isnt. But I noticed last night that when I use IE to access this forum, the little flags that indicate new or added-to posts don't light up. So I've missed a lot of stuff thinking that the forum was inactive. Anyone else had that experience? Using IE 6.0.26 vs. Netscape 4.7.
