HouseBot Owns Serial Port?

Post by Circe640 »

I first encounter what I think is an issue a few weeks back tring to get a touch screen working. It would test OK during the install when all other apps were not running but would not work once installed (HB starts automatically) It uses the serial port and would not communicate. I put this down to a driver problem until I tried to run ProntoEdit4 on the machine in order to crossload IR codes from pronto files to the Pronto and then learn them via USB-UIRT into HouseBot. IF HouseBot was running, I could not communicate with the Pronto Remote Control via the serial port. How can I enable and disable the serial dll so that the com port is free?

The only time HouseBot will use a serial port is if there is an 'enabled' serial hardware interface that is assigned to the same com port. If you disable (set the enabled property to No) the hardware interface that is using the same com port, HouseBot should no longer have the port open and will allow other applications to use the port.
