ACT USB Controller

I've installed the Z-Wave USB controller with the ACT drivers, added the hardware interface in HB, but it will not let me activate it. The log helpfully tells me that "Error connecting to USB device with Driver Description [ACT, Inc. Z-Wave Computer Interface]." Which means I can do nothing. The device worked with flawlessly with Homeseer (and the Homeseer drivers), so I know the device itself works. Anyone have any suggestions about how to get HB to connect with the controller?

Did you get a homeseer branded model?

I ordered that model too, and have had problems getting it to work. I eventually had to make a registry change to get things to activate, then I started getting system resets.

Here's the regedit:

navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Meedio\HouseBot\General Settings

Add a 'string' value named: USB Device Name

Assign a new value: " Homeseer Z-Wave Computer Interface"

Without the quotes. The space at the front is ON PURPOSE. For some stupid reason homeseer has added this.

Restart Housebot and see if it works.

I got those instructions from ScottBot, and it's as far as I have gotten.

I have since put it on the back-burner as I have more pressing HTPC issues right now. ;)

If you get it working, PLEASE let me know what you did.

Thanks Crashless. I tried it without success. I do get some fun new error messages:

Error connecting to USB device with Driver Description [ Homeseer Z-Wave Computer Interface].

Error initializing Z-Wave USB Interface.

Error initializing hardware for module [C:\Program Files\Meedio\Meedio HouseBot\Plugins\Interfaces\ZWaveUSB.dll]

I'll continue to try stuff and see if I don't have more success. If I do, you'll be the first to know.
