i have a iPAQ6315 with 802.11b accessing my LAN

i can't get SWRemote to connect to the server

error message is "connect: failed"

TraceLog does have much usefull info

i can ping the server machine by name and address.

what else should i look for? does the program talk on special ports?

thanks

It uses port 5009. The port is configurable through registry settings (they should be listed in the online help).

after further extensive testing i found that i can use SWRemote to connect to the HouseBot server IF the PPC is in the cradle and activesync is connected.

i cannot figure out how to get SWRemote to talk thru the 802.11b wireless network card. is there a registry change for this?

anyone have SWRemote working thru a Wireless Adapter? (PC or PPC)

thanks

It sounds like your WIFI card is not working. Can you do a ping test to your housebot server? Can you access the internet on your PDA?

SWremote worked out of the box with my PPC (over WifI)

yes, i can ping my housebot server, access the internet as well as a web server on my housebot server machine. i can even ActiveSync over the WiFi connection. (so internet and intranet apps function)

thats the strange thing. i turn on logging on my router (i dont have a sniffer) and don't see the 5009 port traffic. so i am thinking that the SWRemote is not talking to the proper layer on my PDA. (or my PDA implemented the WiFi drivers wrong)(its a new HP6315)

does anyone have this working on an HP iPaq?

what network interface does SWRemote talk to? (winsockets,...??)

I have the software remote working on my iPaq H2215. I'm not sure why it's not working for you.

when setting up WiFi networking do you use the "Work" or "Internet" setting for the WiFi card. I'm not sure if it matters but i will try anything now

If you have a shared folder on your PC, you should be able to browse it using the WiFi from the PPC.

If you use a firewall, try to disable it.
