hi all,

i had been reading ard in this forum for a while, was interested to use house bot software controller to control my lighting via X10. Had ordered a epods. And have fews queries :

1) Anyone using a epods as a software controller?

2) how to go abt doing it? since epods is a ce device, do i just install it via activesync. if yes where can i get the installation files?

3) Will like to hear if there is any feed back as in controlling light. i understand that if the epods controls via wifi then the excution of the action (on light) will have some lags. how slow is the reaction time?

Tks in advance

i can see a lot of helpful peoples in this forum

Cheers,

From looking at your post, you'll also need some backend controller for the epod to talk to. So in the case of HouseBot (and I am still fairly new at the HouseBot side), you would need to get the software remote onto the ePOD. From there you could control the x10 device which is in HouseBot. HouseBot will talk to your x10 light switch via an interface (Ocelot, CM11 or many others). I doubt the medium between the ePOD and Housebot PC (wireless or wired) would affect the response time to any large degree.

I find on my system with only a few x10 lights right now, for it to be very quick, no discernable lag.

If you can't get the software remote onto your CE device, then you will need to set up a webpage that talks to Housebot. You can then simply browse to the web page to control your light.

Hope this Helps

wow tks for ur help. i forget that i have an option to actually control via a webpage instead of directly communicate with housebot. Btw what option do i have if i have to go via the webpage? i read some post in this forum but was clueless as in how to go about doing so.

Don't know...
