Panel open style using scripts

Two Questions -

Is there a way to affect the open style of a panel using a script?

Is there a way to close the panel using the reverse effect?

I'm tring to use this to create hidden windows that slide open and slide closed.

Good question, so i went ahead and tried some stuff like you probably did as well and couldn't come up with a solution.

Created a pop up panel center explode, but the panel properties only distinct between static or pop up. It is the theme panel button that holds the open type like center explode. So the script command OpenRemotePanel and the Task command OpenPanel (on all remotes) just open the panel without the center explode.

My guess is that this cannot be done. Nice feature request though.
Would make up for a good calendar or caller ID pop up.

Hi, sorry to re-open this old thread, but I'm trying to use task based pop-ups with open effects. Still can't see a way to do this, but want to make sure something hasn't come along since this thread was active.

Unfortunately those features didn't make it in the latest release.

Thanks for the update Scott. Can I push for your thoughts related to whether this feels like a 3.x capability? Or will it need to wait until a new major release?

It's hard to say. It's on the list along with panel close animations. I was wanting to implement both features at the same time, but I just can't say for sure when it will make it.
