I have an old 3Com Audrey that I would like to use with HouseBot. I was wondering if anyone had a creative way of incorporating it. It is on my network via an ethernet adapter.

One way may be via a webpage served out by HouseBot.

Thoughts?

Ben,

Unfortunately, HouseBot doesn't have a built-in web server at this time. I have this on the list, but it's way at the bottom, since the Software Remotes work fine over the Internet now.

Thats not encouraging. Prior to finding housebot I was watching the Misterhouse progress. I'm looking to create a home server that uses Sage TV for tivo functionality, MYHTPC for a front end, and HouseBot for lighting and AV control. I really like the AMX style interface, but would like to incorporate the Audrey I already own. unfortunatly the Audrey is running a version linux. (see http://www.audreyhacking.com for more details)

Anyone else have ideas?

Have you considered running rdesktop http://www.rdesktop.org/ or VNC http://www.realvnc.com on your Audrey to run a terminal session of a windows computer running HouseBot?

DynamoBen,

Nice to find a fellow myHTPC user!

I'm new to Housebot, any suggestions on integration of the 2 products?

Cheers

OK, I may have a solution....

Since Housebot has a remote, can the remote be loaded onto the Audrey, and talk with another computer on the network running the server? Just a thought.

I think the Audrey runs QNX as its operating system. Unfortunately, HouseBot only has Win32 and WinCE clients (Software Remotes).
