Re: The future of HouseBot?!
I did not intend my post to be about what you can currently do with HB. With a little ingenuity, you can pretty much control any device out there. But rather, I intended this to be about what can be done to make HB more appealing to the masses. I do use VB script to control and monitor my DSC panel....

Re: The future of HouseBot?!
I think if Scott were to do one thing, it would be to broaden the development environment for HouseBot. I know that there is the .NET bridge, but this is limited in what it can do. With a .NET SDK, I think more people would be able to dabble and create plug-ins to the benefit of the whole community...

The future of HouseBot?!
I have been using HouseBot for almost 7 years now, and have very much enjoyed it. With an impending move, I find myself re-evaluating my home control. With a wife, a kid, and a business, I have less time to spend on my passions. Scott has created a brilliant home control framework. It just needs mor...

Re: Insteson Update from Local Switch
I have found there is no better way with the current PLM device. Problem is, it creates way to much traffic. I hope Scott can one day re-visit the PLM device to have it 'listen' for updates for Insteon devices that are setup in HB. I tried a system where a task would listen, for say a ControlLinc bu...

Re: Video cameras for Housebot use?
Take a look at the SecurView cameras at Trendnet.com. Being using one as a baby cam. Have a lot of features including the ability to e-mail or load images to an ftp in response to motion. Come with pretty good software that allows you to monitor and record up to 16 cams. Also has RTSP which allows m...

Re: DSC832 Script Problem
Thanks for the response. First I tried to loop the script continuously. I have the script check if that data is different then the last loop. If so, it processes it. When I started the script, the CPU jumped to 100% and stayed there. So I went back to having a task fire the script, which then loops ...

DSC832 Script Problem
I just changed over to a newer PC for HB, running Windows 2003 Server. Now, when the alarm system sends a series of commands in a short period of time, the script does not processes every command. The log is below. Scott, any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? "6/15/2009","9:27:...

Re: To Insteon or not to Insteon...
If you have a PLM not a PLC then you should take a look at Insteon Explorer http://www.forefronttechnologiesinc.com/InsteonExplorer/. Insteon Explorer has been recently updated. I have it installed on the my HB server. When I need to link devices, I just disable the PLM in HB, and then open Insteon...

Re: HouseBot Serial Control over DSC Security Panels
Every time the Serial device receives data from the panel, the script is run. This is accomplished by creating a Task that watches the ‘Received Data’ property on the device linked to the hardware interface. The statement from the task is below. ‘GB’ is just a random string that will never be. If(‘D...

Re: HouseBot Serial Control over DSC Security Panels
Attached the hdf file. The 'Send-Code' command has been deleted. There should be plenty of discussion about the generic serial module, do a search. Also read the HB help file.

Re: Insteon Status Update
Perhaps the concept of an alias could be added to house bot so we could link house bot Insteon devices. To add to that idea, perhaps the Insteon Devices could have properties for "Devices that this Device Controls" and / or "Devices that control this Device". Following my exampl...

Re: Pioneer DV-F07 or VSX series with serial control
About a year ago I wasted a lot of time trying to get the rs232 protocols for my STR-DA3000ES. I finally got someone from Sony on the phone, they told me I had to be an 'authorized installer' to get the info :x Check out http://www.vibert.us/es-presso/index.htm, it is a utility to control Sony ES re...

Re: To Insteon or not to Insteon...
If you are using HB, couldn't you do all of your linking via tasks and eliminate true hardware linking? Also, can you detect a keypad link press if it isn't linked to anything....instead using it to control volume or mute for a sound system from within HB? I do not want to rely on HB for linking. I...

Re: To Insteon or not to Insteon...
August marked two years since I installed all my Insteon stuff. Overall, I have been very happy. Of 26 devices (10 different types of devices), I had one KeypadLinc fail. Signal reliability is near 100%. We really like the look and feel of the switches. For control of the devices, the PLM with House...

Re: Insteon Status Update
dorrsr I am not sure that I follow you. In the situation I am talking about the SwitchLinc is not pressed locally, it is turned on by a signal sent from a Keypadlinc. Scott, the button on the KeypadLinc is linked to the PLM. HB does not know that when that button is pressed it should change the stat...
