Adicon Bobcat temperature sensor

Post by derek »

Is it possible to access data from an Adicon bobcat temperature sensor using the Ocelot plug-in?

Thanks

Unfortunately no. It will recognize the digital inputs, but not the analog inputs. I never implemented this, because I didn't have a temperature sensor....

Hi Scott,

I never implemented this, because I didn't have a temperature sensor....

Would you like me to mail you a temperature sensor to use so you can develop and test this functionality?

Or alternatively, can I modify the existing ocelot.dll?

Or do you think interfacing with these devices is not a good add-in to Housebot.

Can you suggest other temperature sensors to use that will work with Housebot? I want something I can use outside (but in a dry location).

Thanks.

Let me look at the API and see what I can do. It's probably fairly simple, but may require a new 'Analog' Input Device. Maybe you can test it for me and save us the postage.

Derek,

Do you currently have a temp sensor hooked up to your Bobcat/Ocelot? If so, I'd like to step you through creating a trace file that I can look at.

Now that I've looked into it, I remember that it's so undocumented and esoteric that you have to reverse engineer it from the data. That's why I never did it.

I do have the Bobcat sensor connected. It is on module 3.

What would you like me to do?

Do this:
  1. Select the Ocelot Hardware Interface from the Tree View.
  2. Click on the 'Hardware Module Type' button at the top of the Interface Property list.
  3. Click on the 'Enabled' checkbox to turn on tracing.
  4. Do something to change the temperature at the sensor for a short while. This should generate data in the log file.
  5. Turn the tracing off by clearing the 'Enabled' checkbox set previously.
  6. Send the trace file (InterfaceTrace.*.csv) to me at '[email protected]'. The file can be found in the HouseBot\Logs directory.

Bobcat or not?

Scott/Guy

Did you ever get the info you needed for this.. I'm also interested in "an analog input" device, specificially for the ADI TempBobcat, and the ADI SEC16I (it can do limited analog inputs, as well as dry contacts).. I have both sets of H/W available to me (as well as an Ocelot), and I'm not familiar enough with HouseBot to do a "plug", but I'll "feed" you whatever data you need and do testing, if your willing to "give this a go"....

I would like to see a trace first. If anyone can generate a trace file as described a few posts ago and send it to me, I can look into this.

Hello all,

I am interested in purchasing the products mentioned in this thread to monitor the temperatures in various parts of my house.

I'm writing to express my interest in the effort that seems to have begun here, in order to use meedio housebot to monitor these temps.

That's all folks. Look forward to following the progress of your efforts.

Cheers,

Adicon bobcat temperature sensor

Nothing new on this at my end although I would like to see it resolved.

I cannot recall an e-mail from Scott after I sent the trace file - but I have not followed up on this at all.

I am happy to test a new ocelot.dll at any time.
