Can I use Tablet PC IR Port?

Post by TFLeonard »

I have a Fujitsu 5022d TabletPC and I was wondering if Housebot can use the built in IR Port to Send and learn commands? If not, does anyone know of Software that Can?

If I understand correctly there are two types of IRs. The one they put on computers is different from the ones in remotes. I realized this when I was looking into the iPaq and the details on it said that it came with the two different types of IRs. If someone has developed software to allow the data transfer type of ir to operate like a remote control ir, I am not sure of.

I would suggest that if possible, get a wireless card for the tablet and then use HouseBot to control the equipment. This way you don't have to worry about the ir port on the tablet being pointed just right. You could then take the tablet into the kitchen and turn up the volume on the tv in the living room.
Thanks,
