Using an MCE remote to control Housebot software remote

Post by danes75 »

I have two PCS. The one in the living room is running MCE 2005 and has a Housebot software remote installed. The Housebot server software is running on another PC upstairs.

I've created a theme for the software remote that looks like a part of the MCE interface and integrated the software remote into the Media Center start page.

My question is how do I get the MCE remote to scroll through my software remote buttons as it does in Media Center?

The HouseBot Software Remote has limited ability to do this. From the Software Remote configuration dialog, if you select "Enable Control Focus Management", a border will be displayed around the "selected" control. You can change the control selection from a task by adding a "Control Remote" Task list action. Then selecting the "Control Focus" action to move the selection or select the control.

i've done this. it shows a "highlight" around selections, but the MCE remote won't change what is selected.

i think i'm considering building an html page so control can be done directly from inside MCE instead of opening the sofware remote.

has anyone else done this?

You will need to add Tasks that have conditions setup to trigger when the specific MCE remote IR codes (up,down, left, right, select) are received.
