Asus EEE Top

Post by Osler »

This looks very interesting and it's at the right price point. Fry's has them on sale this week for $499.

Fry's..... That's the one place I always try to visit when being in the States. Too bad there are only a few and always far from where I seem to be...

The panel looks very nice and the price seems very OK too!

very cool. Scree is a tad big at 15", I'd rather have a 10 variant, for which I was consideing a net book, but I like the form-factor of this one much more.

I gather a mini-keyboard could be plugged in (or a wireless USB interface), anyone done that?

It comes with this:

I don't have one yet so I can't comment on it. You could run your server and an swremote on it simultaneously (re: your other post). The Eee Box is another option for a server (in pink since it's $15 cheaper).

I went and looked at one these yesterday and it is very well done. My main concern was the touchscreen, but it is solid and extremely responsive. Another nice feature is a button to turn the screen off/on right next to the power button. No VESA mounting on the back, but there is a full cadre of inputs on the back. Seems like a good deal to me, especially if the price continues to go down. One of these may replace my SmartDisplay in the kitchen.
