Flashing dot on minimized swremote tray icon

I have answering machine software that also minimizes to the tray. It just an icon showing a telephone. If someone left a voicemail, a red flashing dot appears right low on this icon.

I was thinking that a similar thing could add extra functionality to the swremote tray icon. It could be linked to a single property that if it is set true, flashes the dot and set false doesn't display the dot. This way I could set this property to true whenever an event worhty of opening the swremote has happened.

Nothing special, but some eye candy with a little use.
