Insteon PLM Rev 3.0

Post by kilowatt »

Hey Guys,

I've been using the Insteon PLM with housebot for a while and it has been working just fine. I just tried a new one I got from Smarthome a while back that has a sticker on the back that says Rev 3.0 and it is not working for X10 commands. It receives them fine but will not transmit them. Insteon commands seem to work. My other PLM's are Rev 2.4 I don't know if this is a housebot issue or if I have a bad device. Is anyone using a Insteon PLM Rev3.0? Does it transmit X10 commands ok with housebot.

Thanks,

Mark

You might want to enable the hardware interface trace for the PLM and see if it gives any clues when trying to use X10.

FWIW I have a rev 3.1 PLM and HB reports a Firmware Rev. of 85. I haven't noticed any problems with X10, most of my stuff is still X10 with only a handful of Insteon at the moment.

Thanks Terry,

Mine says firmware rev. of 83. So my older devices work and your newer device works. Looks like I've got to hunt for my receipt and return it to smarthome.

Scott,

I attached and interface trace which looks fine to me. So, unless you see something weird with it I'll get a replacement PLM.

The trace doesn't show any problems, and seems to indicate that it has sent the commands. If you can be reasonably sure that the outlet it is plugged into should have a clean path to the X10 device (plugged into the same outlet as the previous PLM), then I would think it may be a problem with the PLM.

The trace looked good to me also. One of the first things I tried was to swapped it directly into the location of the other PLM. Time to call Smarthome.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

So I finally called Smarthome and swapped out my Rev 3.0 PLM. The new Rev 3.1 one works fine. When I called they said there was an issue with the 3.0 firmware software that causes it not to send out X10 commands. That problem was the fix in firmware rev 3.1.
