Remote Control Library and IR codes

Post by rays13 »

My partner and I are experiencing is after we create a Remote, we have to manualy associate each IR code to a button(function) from he remote that controls the components we are using: DVD, HDMI Matrix Switch, Sony CD Player, Sanyo HDTV and Vizio HDTV. My partner and I had set the Remote Freq at 38 and use the learn function on the Housebot program to map each IR Code to the correct Buttons from the remote for the components.
The problem is that not all of the codes are completed. The debug indicates 100% at 98% power. We tested this procedure on previous components and didn't have this issue.
what should we do, if there are not IR codes uploaded in the Pronto site for our devices? It has to be something simple: frequency, distance?

Can you resolve this issue we are experiencing

Thanks I appreciate your help

I did some research on this and it's possible the remote is too powerful and overloading the US-UIRT. Also I read somewhere it may be possible to use a universale remote, then transfer from that to the USB-UIRT. There was also no matching codes on the pronto site for Vizio, sanyo and DVD we are using.
We are new to this, so please have mercy...LOL
We are doing a senior design project for Purdue and HouseBot is the best! Just have to work out a few kinks in our design.
It's odd that most button/functions, work fine and capture/learn ,7, Power and a codes afew other functions don't ca
Anybody have any ideas.

Thanks

Can you please clarify the question? What are you using to learn the IR codes (UIRT, GC100) and what precisely is the problem you are experiencing?

Hi Olser,

USB-UIRT, Housebot is configured and working. The question is what to do if there are a few button functions not learned by the USB-UIRTfrom the factory remote?
For example the Powerbutton. The IR code Debug shows one line of code and when tested doesn't work.
Most of the other buttons/functions from the factory remote are learned and send out the IR codes for the components just fine, for example, 1, 2, 3, Enter, Mute,...ect. There are a few that for some reason USB-UIRT will not learn.
My question is what to do?

Thanks

Keep trying until you capture a code that works. Adjust the distance between the uirt and the remote if you're not getting a good capture. It's been a while since I used the uirt for this, but try holding the remote really close to it. If that doesn't work, try holding it about 12" away. Also, check remote central for ccf files related to your device. You can open the xml file and peruse it to find the pronto codes that you need.

Osler, thanks I appreciate your help. We solved our issue on why certain channels would not pick up certain signals for the IR codes. Part of it was the distance between the remote and USB-UIRT and plus it is picky with some buttons. We raised the repeat to four and had to do it 5-6 times at a distance of around 1-2-3 inches untill it learned all the code...Everything is good.

Yup,
Thanks Osler, sorry I typed your name incorrectly on the prior post.
When we did the intial IR-code learning procedure, we were under bright floresent lights.
Maybe that had something to do with it.

Thanks,
