Thanks.

My plan is to use my server pc to handle housebot and other programs. I rarely turn on the monitor. I also have a HTPC running. Hopefully, the airpanel will work fine for me.

Are you saying you are going to ditch your airpanel in favor of a ViewPanel?

What are the reasons for this?

Leviton Swithes. Model numbers?

ScottBott,

You gave me several model numbers for the switches I would need to control my lights. The worthington distribution site does not list any of these model numbers. They have many Leviton switches with other model numbers. They do look like they have much better prices than smarthome does.

Patience has never been one of my better virtues. I went ahead and ordered a factory refurbished Airpanel v110p and the docking station. I found a site that had both for $340 with free shipping. If I end up hating the thing, I can always sell it on Ebay and probably make a small profit as x-mas gets...

When you say a long time. Do you mean 15-20 seconds or so? That would seem like a long time when trying to turn down the volume. :) The main use I want for mine it to play mp3s. I have an mx-500 remote controlling Meedio that will work fine for playing DVDs. I also want x-10 Housebot control. I just...

There are only a few models that I know of that support touch without a stylist. One popular model is the fujitsu 3400/3500.

I am still leaning towards the airpanel and using my server pc for the configuration.

I am also looking at adding some type of touch panel to my 'collection'. I'm not sure if I should get a TabletPC (Fujitsu 3400) or a ViewSonic Airpanel (v110 or v115). I guess the biggest difference is one is a full blown PC and the other basically acts as a second monitor to another PC. Right now I...

OK. Thanks.

I want to make sure I have this right. For one set of lights, I take out the existing 3-way dimmer switch and replace it with the x10 switch mentioned above. The other switch I just keep it the same?

Sorry for all of the questions.

Can those switches be dimmed manually at the switch? I don't see a slider on the switch.

Need help choosing light switches, etc...

I am planning on getting a Powerlinc USB (if that is one of the better ones) to start my home automation project. The first set of lights that I want to control are the main living room lights. There are 2 sets of lights and each is controlled by a 3-way switch. I want a switch that is 3-way (of cou...

Newbie questions. Considering HouseBot. Hardware needed?

I am considering setting up HouseBot on my server PC. What kind of hardware would I need to get it working with a remote? Would I need a usb-uirt? Does the Powerlinc USB accept commands from a remote? I think I understand how the program works and sends out commands to control various fixtures. What...
